Former Tamale Central Member of Parliament, Inusah Fuseini, has praised President John Mahama for his approach to ministerial and public office appointments.

He lauded the President for being determined, bold, and decisive in selecting individuals for his government, noting that Mahama is fully aware of the limited time available to him during his term in office.

Fuseini highlighted that the President’s appointments have been strategic and in line with his campaign promise to reset the country.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, January 25, Fuseini emphasized that President Mahama has made his choices with careful consideration, working within the constitutional constraints of his office.

He acknowledged the challenge of managing a large Parliament and the need to choose individuals who align with the President’s values and vision for Ghana’s future.

According to Fuseini, the President understands that he has a short time frame in which to govern, with only four years to fulfill his promises.

With this in mind, Mahama has made selections that will not only serve his government effectively but also leave a lasting impact on the country.

However, Fuseini also pointed out that such decisions are bound to disappoint some individuals, especially those who were hoping for ministerial positions based on their contributions to the President’s success.

The former MP explained that certain politicians have developed a sense of entitlement, believing that their past efforts or political loyalty warrant an appointment.

He acknowledged that many people have expressed disappointment over their exclusion from the new appointments, but he argued that Mahama must prioritize the country’s future over satisfying individual expectations.

Fuseini also addressed the need for the President to avoid repeating past mistakes made by the previous government.

He emphasized that Mahama is aware of the need to avoid the failures that occurred under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and he is committed to putting Ghana on a sound footing. In this regard, the selection of ministers and officials has to be done with utmost care and precision.

Reflecting on the recruitment process, Fuseini acknowledged the challenge the President faces in choosing individuals who can carry out his vision for the country.

He noted that the selection would inevitably disappoint some, as it represents a shift away from previous political practices.

The appointment process, according to Fuseini, is not just about rewarding political loyalty but about ensuring that the right people are in place to drive the President’s agenda forward.

He emphasized the importance of carefully selecting individuals who can help the President carry out his mandate.

Given the gravity of the task ahead, Mahama’s approach to recruitment has been to pick individuals who can contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.

In this regard, Fuseini expressed confidence that the President’s decisions would ultimately benefit Ghana, even if some individuals were left disappointed by the outcome.

Inusah Fuseini’s remarks reflect a broader understanding of the complexities involved in leadership and governance. While some politicians may feel left out or disgruntled, the focus, according to Fuseini, should be on the long-term well-being of the country.

He praised President Mahama for being mindful of the responsibility he carries and his commitment to ensuring that Ghana remains on the right path for future growth and prosperity.
