Parliament has postponed the vetting of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has been postponed to Friday, January 31, 2025.

This is a result of the chaos that erupted when Kwabena Mintah Akandoh was about to swear his oath.

The minority wanted the vetting postponed because they had been sitting the whole day, but the majority insisted the vetting needed to take place.

In registering their dissatisfaction, the minority mounted their chairs on the table—a move that infuriated the majority in parliament.

In fighting back, a scuffle ensued, leading to the destruction of some tables and microphones.

It took the intervention of the Majority leader to bring sanity to the floor who announced that the venue for the vetting will be changed tomorrow.

Addressing the press after the scuffle, Mahama Ayariga said, “It is clear from the level of destruction that the vetting cannot continue. All the microphones have been destroyed. That will make it impossible for the media to carryout what the nominees say to Ghanaians. Vetting is about assessing the competence of the nominees. The vetting will therefore have to be postponed to tomorrow. We will get a new venue for the vetting.”
