Chaos erupts in Parliament over vetting of Akandoh and Ablakwa

-

The Minority in Parliament has kicked against the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandor, Minister-Designate for Health, and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs.

They say their members are worn out and must be allowed to go home for the vetting to be done on Friday, January 31.

In registering their displeasure with the majority’s decision to go ahead with the vetting, the minority dropped their chairs on the conference table. While heated arguments between the Minority and the Majority members of the Appointments Committee ensued.

The minority threatened a walkout of the vetting should it be allowed to take place. When pushed to shove, the Minority in a scuffle destroyed some chairs and microphones used by the Appointments Committee.

Eight nominees were expected to be vetted on the day. However, five nominees were vetted, after which the chaos erupted.
