President John Dramani Mahama has drawn a firm line against illegal mining, making it clear that no member of his administration will be allowed to engage in small-scale mining or galamsey.

Addressing the newly sworn-in ministers on Thursday, January 30, 2025, he warned that anyone found flouting this directive would face “swift and severe consequences.”

“No member of this government is allowed to participate in any form of small-scale mining or galamsey.

Anyone found engaging in such activities will face swift and severe consequences,” Mahama stated, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to tackling the environmental devastation caused by illegal mining.
