Otto Addo visits Partey and Djiku to mend ties ahead of 2025 World Cup Qualifiers

-

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has personally visited Thomas Partey and Alexander Djiku as he looks to strengthen his relationship with the two key players ahead of Ghana’s 2025 World Cup qualifiers in March.

The move comes amid reports of dressing room unrest, with claims that some senior players are not fully aligned with Addo’s leadership. Partey, who has captained Ghana for much of Addo’s second tenure, was notably absent from the recent qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

Speculation suggested that despite being available, Partey declined a call-up, citing an injury that some sources claim did not exist. This reportedly caused friction between the midfielder and the coach.

Determined to restore harmony within the squad following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Addo visited Djiku in Turkey and Partey in England. He also met with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to discuss Partey’s situation at the club.

With crucial qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar approaching, Addo’s efforts underline his commitment to uniting the team and ensuring a stronger Black Stars setup for the challenges ahead.
