Dr. Nii Moi Thompson has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), according to a statement from Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for President John Dramani Mahama.
This appointment is subject to consultations with the Council of State.
Dr. Thompson is a development economist and previously served as the Director-General of the NDPC.
He led the preparation of Ghana’s 40-Year Development Plan and represented Ghana in UN delegations from 2014 to 2015, contributing to the development and integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the country’s agenda.
In his new role, Dr. Thompson will collaborate closely with the Minister for Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the Government Statistician, and regional representatives.
His responsibility will be to provide strategic advice to the President and Parliament on national development.
