The Clerk to the Appointments Committee, Gifty Jiagge-Gobah, has revealed that she abruptly left the chaotic vetting session on January 30, 2025, after receiving multiple calls and a message from her husband instructing her to exit immediately.
Speaking before the Special Committee set up to investigate the events, she recounted how she was caught in the middle of a heated confrontation between the Majority and Minority members over the swearing-in of a nominee.
“The Majority side kept screaming at me that I should let the nominee take the oath. The Minority Leader was also screaming at me,” she said.
At the height of the chaos, she became visibly overwhelmed. “At a point, I got hot, so I started fanning myself and took a seat,” she added.
Then came an urgent message from home.
“I got three calls and a message from my dear husband instructing me to leave the premises immediately. That order I took, and I left,” she disclosed.
