Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh is of the view that their calls on the president to revoke the appointment of Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
According to him, regardless of the government dropping the charges against him, he is not purged of his involvement in corruption-related matters.
He is of the view that Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama lacks the credibility to represent Ghana in the International world.
To him, if John Dramani Mahama is committed to fighting corruption as he has made the world aware of, this is a test case for him to prove.
“Mahama has assured the people of Ghana that he is committed to fighting corruption. I believe that this is a test case for him. He should relieve Asiama of the position and allow him face the laws of this country rather than drop the charges.
Dr Asiama will represent Ghana Internationally so it is imperative that someone who is not tainted will be appointed to lead the Central Bank of the country. It may get to a point where the International bodies will not want to meet him because he is tainted with corruption,” he told OB on Accra-based Asempa FM.
He continued”How come seven people, he was the only one who was taken out with Nolle prosequi. It means there are questions to answer but they are trying to shield this man. A man who will be in charge of the country’s money should have some credibility and that cannot be said about Dr Asiama. We know his competence but he has ben smeared and that is very worrying”.
