The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, is of the view that the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, saw the efficiency with which he managed the political party as Regional Secretary to choose him for the ministerial position.
He is of the view that the work he put in as Regional Secretary played a keen role in getting the latest appointment.
To him, when the work started to make NDC attractive in the Ashanti Region, a number of people didn’t believe in what they were doing.
However, the President, then the opposition leader, gave his blessing, and that is the result everyone sees today.
“I realized that he saw efficiency in me when I was running the party as a regional secretary because, as regional secretary, you ensure the day-to-day running of the party, making sure that all the departments function.
The party in the region is at a disadvantage; we are a minority within the region, so I had to find a way of identifying the problems and being able to propose bold solutions to solving those problems. Beyond that be able to convince all stakeholder of the party that this is the path to go and this will give us the results.
When we started the whole realignment program for the party in 2022 people did not see the bigger picture but I had to go all the length of meeting all stakeholders, including the Council of Elders, former appointees including the former president himself. I had a whole presentation, power point,on the strategic direction we want to take the party in order that we will be able to breakthrough within the region.
