The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has dismissed reports suggesting that Hon. Donatus Akamugri Atanga, the Regional Minister, was involved in an accident while travelling to Bawku.
Contrary to media claims, including those by Onua TV, the minister was not directly affected by the incident.
According to the RCC, the accident involved three vehicles from his convoy—a police pickup, a fire service vehicle, and a regional House of Chiefs pickup.
The crash occurred when the lead dispatch rider swerved to avoid a flock of sheep crossing the road. The sudden manoeuvre forced the vehicle behind him to brake abruptly, triggering a chain collision.
Two police officers sustained minor injuries in the incident. One was treated and discharged immediately, while the other remained under observation for precautionary reasons.
Despite the disruption, Hon. Atanga proceeded with his itinerary, meeting with Zug-Raan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II in Bawku before continuing to the Nabdam District, where he engaged with the Paramount Chiefs of Sakote and Nangodi.
The RCC reassures the public that the Regional Minister is safe, in good health, and carrying out his duties without interruption.
