Don’t live like Arabian Kings when labour has accepted a paltry 10% increment—Gyampo to Mahama’s appointees

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has warned against flamboyant lifestyles by John Dramani Mahama’s appointees.

He says as labour has agreed to go with a 10% increment in their wages, appointees must live by the times.

Gyampo is of the view that they should not preach hardship and live like Arabian kings.

The political scientist was speaking on Accra-based TV3 when he made this known.

“As labour accepts the paltry increment of 10, let us demonstrate modesty, let us show that times are hard and we should all then tighten our belt, let us all demonstrate that times are truly hard,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, February 22.

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, while addressing organized labour indicated that over the years there has been some form of mistrust among the citizenry.

This, he says is because politicians will ask the citizens to tighten their belts while they live a life of luxury.

He assured the people of Ghana that his leadership will ensure that every other person tightens his/her belt while the government works to make the economy better.

“A certain distrust for the political class has arisen because it is like when everybody else is tightening their belt, the political class is loosening itself. I want to assure you that we are all going to tighten our belts. and there will be no wasteful expenditure.”
