Breaking barriers as a Ghanaian artist is not easy – Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy has expressed deep gratitude for the love and support he received during his recent tour of the United States and Canada.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast in London, monitored by MyNewsGh, the Ghanaian musician described the experience as an eye-opener, emphasizing how difficult it is for an African artist, particularly one from Ghana, to break into global markets.

“I’m feeling very grateful, very, very grateful,” he said. “This was my first solo winter tour, and it wasn’t easy getting people to come out in those conditions, especially in America.”

According to him, the tour, which was aimed at promoting his latest album, saw impressive turnouts despite the cold weather and other challenges. He noted that it was inspiring to see different audiences, including Gen Z fans, embracing his music.

“The reception has been amazing. I can confidently say that my music appeals to a wide range of people—from the presidency to the last guy in the hood,” he said. “That’s beautiful to know.”

Stonebwoy also reflected on the challenges Ghanaian artists face in making an impact on the global stage. He explained that unlike Nigerian artists, who have gained a stronghold internationally, Ghanaian musicians still struggle against internal and external barriers.

“The odds are against us, and we all know this is no secret. It takes extra effort to push through,” he noted.

He expressed appreciation for the people who have supported his journey and vowed to continue working hard to elevate Ghanaian music worldwide.
