Police probe brutal murder of Mobile Money vendor in Kwadaso

-

Police in the Ashanti Region have launched an investigation following the gruesome murder of a 25-year-old mobile money vendor, identified only as Junior, in Soldier-Line, a suburb of the Kwadaso Municipality.

The young man, originally from Ejisu Onwe, was found dead in his one-room apartment on Saturday, March 8, under chilling circumstances.

Reports indicate that he had returned home that night with a substantial amount of cash when unidentified attackers stormed his residence. He was later discovered in a pool of blood, with the assailants allegedly making away with an undisclosed sum.

Neighbours grew concerned after failing to reach him, and the discovery of a foul odor from his room heightened their suspicions. His landlord, George Boateng, who spoke about the harrowing incident, described the horrific state in which Junior was found.

“He was found with his legs tied and his hands bound behind his back. His mouth was also taped shut. There were deep lacerations on his neck, as if he had been slaughtered like a goat. After the attack, the assailants locked the door from the outside and fled,” Boateng recounted to Asaase News.

Crime scene investigators have since visited the residence as part of ongoing inquiries. The victim’s body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for preservation and autopsy.

This murder adds to growing concerns over targeted attacks on mobile money vendors in the region. Just last month, a 27-year-old vendor, Patricia Nimako, was shot dead at Krofrom, with her killers escaping with GH¢10,000 and mobile phones.

A similar case was reported at Amansie Asaman, where another vendor was murdered under comparable circumstances.

Despite these alarming incidents, no arrests have been made.
