No casualties reported as UN Dash 8 Aircraft makes emergency belly landing after nose gear malfunction.

A United Nations Dash 8 (DH8D) aircraft operated by the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) made a safe emergency landing at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu after experiencing a nose wheel failure.

According to a press statement from the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), the aircraft took off from Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport at 11:16 local time, heading to Baidoa.

Shortly after departure, the crew detected a technical issue with the nose wheel and decided to return to Mogadishu.

The plane executed a belly landing at 13:28 local time. Fortunately, all passengers and crew on board were unharmed, and the aircraft sustained minimal damage.

The Somali Civil Aviation Authority confirms an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the nose wheel malfunction.
