Former Youth and Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has expressed doubts about the Black Stars’ progress despite their recent victories.
His comments follow Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where the team secured a 5-0 victory over Chad on March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium, and a 3-0 win against Madagascar on March 24, 2025.
Despite these convincing wins, the former Member of Parliament remains unconvinced about the team’s overall development.
“I think the two matches we have played so far don’t give me any indication that there has been an improvement in the team, even though we’ve won those matches by wide score lines,” he told CitiSports.
“I want to see a Ghana national team that will strike fear or put every other team on alert that they are playing Ghana, whether you are Argentina or Brazil.”
Meanwhile, the victories have boosted Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the team leading Group I with 15 points, followed by Comoros with 12 points and Madagascar with 10 points.
