We have a good team to beat Senegal – Kim Lars Bjorkegren

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren is optimistic his side will beat Senegal in the first of two friendlies on Saturday, April 5.

The two teams come up against each other in Dakar, with the senior women’s national team getting their training tour in Senegal underway.

The Queens are looking to get back to winning ways after suffering defeat in the Swede’s first game against Morocco during the last international break.

Having observed his team for the past few days, Bjorkegren believes there is enough quality on his side to see off the Teranga Lionesses.

“They [Senegal] play physical. They have a couple of really good players. We need to be ready. Also, like I said, I think the potential in our team is good enough to win the game,” he said in his pre-match presser.

“I expect us to control a little bit more of the game, create more chances than we did in Morocco and hopefully score some goals.”

The Black Queens have not won a game since beating Namibia in the first leg of the last round of qualifiers for the delayed 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The two friendlies against Senegal are part of preparations for the WAFCON to be staged in Morocco in July.
