In a significant move towards bridging the gender gap in the paint industry, Coral Paints has launched its ‘Women in Colour’ programme, an initiative designed to equip women with practical skills in painting and surface finishing.

The launch event took place on Monday, April 7, 2025.

The ‘Women in Colour’ initiative goes beyond just technical training; it provides women with a pathway to sustainable income, economic independence, and social empowerment.

The General Manager of Coral Paints, Celestina Inkoom, explained that the programme is a clear reflection of the company’s commitment to gender inclusion and economic empowerment.

“It is a powerful initiative aimed at empowering women facing social and economic challenges by providing them with the right skill set to become professional painters,” she said.

At the launch event, Business Development Manager, Luiz Carlos, highlighted the significance of purpose-driven work.

He explained that the initiative helps women reclaim their identity and gain financial autonomy.

“Over the course of the one-month programme, participants will take part in a two-week practical internship, learning how to apply the skills they’ve acquired.

“They will have our support and backing to promote their work as women, wherever their services are needed,” Mr Carlos noted.

On her part, the CEO of the Nneka Youth Foundation, Cecilia Fiaka, expressed strong support for the initiative, describing it as a step in the right direction.

She urged industries to reimagine male-dominated spaces by creating opportunities for more women.

“If you train a woman, you train the whole world. With the twenty women we are starting with, they will have a significant impact on their families.

“We are proud to say that these women are going to make a difference, and over hundreds of other women will benefit from them,” she remarked.

As Ghana continues to push for greater inclusivity and gender-balanced development, initiatives like Coral’s ‘Women in Colour’ are not only transforming lives but also reshaping entire industries.
