The leadership of the Nigerian Army have pleaded with youths from the Southeast region to apply for enlistment in the Nigerian Military.
In a sensitization initiative commenced by the Nigerian Army in the Southeast region, youths have been urged to apply for military recruitment to fill up the dropping quota for the region.
Speaking in Enugu with local government chairmen, traditional and religious leaders from the region and leaders of student unions, some delegates from the Nigerian Army echoed the importance of Igbo youths enlisting in the military.
Brigadier General Chima Ekeator, Leader of the Nigerian Army Recruitment Sensitisation Exercise said, “In the last quarter of last year, Enugu state had a slot of about 200 persons but they were not able to fill up to 100 of the slots.
“There are a lot of young men that really want to join the Army but for some of these sentiments being bandied around, some of them lack encouragement from the local government councils.
“We have come to get the buy-in of grassroots politicians, our royal fathers to help us raise these numbers so that Enugu State can fill up their slots,” Ekator said.
