
Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has visited Plateau State in response to the latest wave of deadly attacks in the state.
The minister touched down at Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang, for a condolence visit and to assess the devastation in Zikke community, Bassa Local Government Area, which was recently under attack from gunmen.
He was received by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Abdulsalam Folusho Oyinlola, alongside retired Brigadier General Gakji Shipi, Special Assistant to the Plateau State Governor on Security Matters, and other senior military officials.
At least 51 people were killed by gunmen in the early hours of Monday in Zikke Community, Northern Plateau State. The attack comes just two weeks after deadly clashes in another part of the state that left dozens dead.
