Court remands Mobile Money robbery suspect into police custody

-

The Nalerigu District Court in the North East Region has remanded Waliu Fazazi into police custody for his alleged involvement in a mobile money robbery incident at Bunkpurugu.

According to the police in a statement, on April 23, 2025, Fazazi, in collaboration with other accomplices who are currently on the run, robbed a mobile money vendor of GH₵300,000.00.

Investigations revealed that the accused approached the vendor under the pretext of withdrawing GH₵15,000.00, claiming it was a transfer from his brother, delayed by network issues.

During the interaction, two masked men, one of whom was armed, suddenly appeared, demanded the vendor’s bag containing cash, fired warning shots, and fled the scene on a motorbike.

Fazazi was arraigned before the Nalerigu District Court on Friday, April 25, 2025, and was remanded into custody. He is expected to reappear before the court on May 9, 2025.

Meanwhile, police are urging the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects still at large.
