“He delivered results” – Calls grow for Ambode’s comeback as Lagos gvoernor in 2027

-

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Ambode Support Group (ASG) has listed reasons why many Lagos residents are clamouring for the return of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode to lead the state once again.

Ambode, who served as governor from 2015 to 2019, was denied a second term after losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

Despite this, ASG says the former governor remains widely beloved for the impactful legacy he left behind.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Dr. Olumuyiwa Olusi, Deputy Director of Mobilization for ASG, stated that Ambode’s projects continue to positively affect the lives of Lagosians.

He said: “Former Governor Ambode enjoys humongous support among residents of Lagos whose lives he touched positively while in office. He delivered results.

“We all understand how he lost his bid for a second term — and it was certainly not because of poor performance.”

He noted that Ambode’s achievements in human capital development, infrastructure, and overall transformation of Lagos are still visible and appreciated today.

“Lagosians have demonstrated overwhelming solidarity and support, as seen in their consistent calls for him to come back and complete what he started,” Olusi added.

ASG also pledged to purchase the nomination and expression of interest forms of the APC if Ambode decides to contest in the upcoming elections.
