Taraba deputy governor returns after medical trip to Egypt for nearly four months

-

After nearly four months of absence, the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, has returned to the state capital, Jalingo.

Alhaji Alkali arrived at the Danbaba Suntai Airport on Saturday at approximately 1:40 p.m. via a chartered aircraft.

His return went largely unnoticed by the press, as journalists were not informed in advance.

Sources revealed to Daily Trust that the Deputy Governor had initially been flown to Abuja for treatment of an undisclosed illness before being transferred to Egypt for more intensive medical care.

“We were told the Deputy Governor is back in Jalingo, but nobody informed us about his return. We only heard about it after he got to town,” a reporter attached to the Deputy Governor’s office said.

Alhaji Alkali does not currently have a designated Press Secretary, a gap that made obtaining official confirmation of his return difficult at the time of filing this report.

However, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Digital Communications, confirmed the Deputy Governor’s return but did not provide further details regarding his health or current duties.
