Oaks FC took a giant step towards qualification to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League after recording three consecutive wins in the ongoing Women’s Zonal Championship. Oaks thrashed Anlo Ladies 5-2 in match day three. Fati’s goals in the 8th, 58th, and 90+4′ minutes marked the first hat-trick of the championship.
Portia Sakyiwaa and Victoria Yeboah also registered their names on the score sheet in the 47th and 66th minutes, respectively. Bebe Kpozo tapped in from close range in the 86th minute, before Rukaya Saaka scored in the 90+5 minute, which was the last kick of the game. Oaks FC needs a win from the two remaining games to secure a ticket to the elite women’s football.
The second game of the day saw Samartex Ladies put up a stellar performance to earn a hard-fought win over stubborn Rootz Sistaz. Two quick first-half goals sealed the win for the Timber Queens. Elizabeth Adomah scored in the 7th minute, and Patrick Nyanfan doubled the lead two minutes later. Despite their efforts, Rootz Sistaz could only manage a consolation goal through Kpenteey Belinda in the 80th minute.
Essiam Socrates remains winless in three games after suffering a 1-3 defeat to Sissamba Ladies. Gifty Dwamena Akomabea headed home from Priscilla Mensah’s cross in the 24th minute, and Priscilla Mensah added another goal in the 38th minute. Captain Sandra Atinga converted a penalty four minutes before halftime. Essiam Socrates had a vital opportunity to draw level, but Fuseini Afusatu missed a penalty awarded to her side in the 15th minute. Alberta Adjei scored a consolation goal for Socrates in the 94th minute to end proceedings.
