Paris Saint-Germain clinched their inaugural Champions League title with a stunning 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich — marking the largest winning margin in the final of this competition since it began in 1956 — and completed a treble after previously securing Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France
Achraf Hakimi scored the first goal in the 12th minute against his old club, followed by two goals from 19-year-old forward Désiré Doué — who made history as the first teenager to net twice in a final since Benfica’s Eusebio did so in a 5-3 triumph over Real Madrid in 1962 — establishing PSG’s dominance before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu added to the French champions’ remarkable win.
The Qatari-owned French side had spent more than a decade pursuing the Champions League by acquiring some of the biggest names in football, including Lionel Messi, Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Kylian Mbappé.
However, after shifting their strategy two years ago to focus on younger talent, PSG has now ascended to the pinnacle of European football — notably in their first season without Mbappé, who transferred to Real Madrid last summer with hopes of winning the Champions League.
With this victory, PSG becomes only the second French club to lift the European Cup, following Marseille’s achievement in 1993, and coach Luis Enrique celebrates his second triumph after leading Barcelona to victory in 2015.
