“We were destined to qualify” – Puro eacts to Eleven Wonders’ playoff triumph

Stephen Puro, the Chief Executive Officer of Eleven Wonders, has expressed that his belief in promotion has never faltered, emphasizing that only a win against Real Tamale United (RTU) would suffice.

After his team’s thrilling 2-1 win in the Division One League playoff final on Friday, Puro stated that his confidence in qualifying remained unwavering, no matter the obstacles presented by RTU.

“I was certain we would qualify. The identity of the opponent was irrelevant—we were destined to qualify,” he remarked following the match.

“What transpired on the field is inconsequential. My conviction was that we were going to qualify.”

Puro’s comments came after an exhilarating match at the Accra Sports Stadium, where a last-minute penalty from Farouk Ameyaw clinched Eleven Wonders’ return to the Ghana Premier League after spending three seasons in the lower division.

Frank Awere initially put the Techiman-based team ahead, but RTU equalized with a penalty from Blabala Bamon in the second half.

Ultimately, it was Ameyaw’s late penalty that made all the difference.

This victory signifies the conclusion of a challenging journey for Eleven Wonders, who faced relegation in 2022.
