Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has confirmed his participation in efforts to secure bail for the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who is commonly referred to as Chairman Wontumi.
The former Minister of State mentioned that they are currently working on the necessary formalities to finalize the bail process.
“We’ve just finished inspecting the properties. The next step involves officials verifying their value to see if they fulfill the bail conditions,” he stated.
Dr. Acheampong, who is considered a strong contender in the upcoming race to lead the NPP in the 2028 elections, has pledged properties to assist in the process, emphasizing that this is a customary gesture and expressing uncertainty about what it truly means to be “rich.”
In the meantime, Mr. Antwi-Boasiko has retracted a motion that sought a review of his bail conditions.
This motion, which was submitted to the High Court in Accra on 30 May 2025, was set to be heard on Tuesday, 3 June.
