The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association remains steadfast in their strike action.
Despite requests from the Health Ministry and the Labour Minister to halt the strike and engage in discussions, the association believes that the government is not genuinely committed to fulfilling their conditions of service.
The association has outlined a plan that its members will follow as they advocate for improved working conditions.
From June 2–3, 2025, nurses and midwives will don red armbands and headbands as a form of protest.
Between June 4–8, 2025, outpatient department (OPD) services will be suspended.
Starting June 9, 2025, there will be a complete withdrawal of all nursing and midwifery services across the country.
It is anticipated that over 128,000 nurses and midwives throughout Ghana will participate in this strike action.
