GHOne TV under fire: Minority seeks clarity on Dr. Daly’s health show role

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has given GHOne TV a one-week ultimatum to clarify its choice of Dr. Ann Sansa Daly as the host of the medical show ‘Health and Life with Dr. Daly’, which was broadcast on the network.

This ultimatum follows President John Dramani Mahama’s recent decision to revoke Dr. Daly’s position as a Board Member of the National Health Insurance Authority, amid rising concerns regarding her medical qualifications.

In a letter signed by Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, the Ranking Member of the Health Committee, the Minority Caucus has raised inquiries about the vetting process that GHOne TV undertook before allowing Dr. Daly to host a health-oriented program.

The caucus also expressed concerns about the investigations and background checks that GHOne TV performed prior to hiring her, along with the documentation she provided to validate her credentials as a health professional. Additionally, the minority is seeking clarification on the rationale behind the station’s decision to approve and broadcast a program that offers medical advice and information to the public.

Furthermore, the Minority Caucus is requesting to know what corrective actions GHOne TV plans to implement in response to the potential risks of misinformation or professional misconduct stemming from this situation.

“The Ghanaian public depends significantly on the reliability of media outlets in shaping their understanding of health and wellness topics. Thus, it is crucial that individuals granted such platforms undergo thorough vetting and adhere to legal and professional standards,” the letter reads .
