Kenneth Ofori-Atta won’t meet OSP due to health issues – Legal team confirms

Sources close to former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta have confirmed that he will not be in Ghana on June 2 to meet with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as was previously arranged.

They explain that this is due to an unforeseen decline in his health condition.

Frank Davies stated that this situation has been formally communicated to the OSP by Ofori-Atta’s legal representatives, along with relevant medical documentation.

He also mentioned that this information has been shared with the Human Rights Court.

Over the weekend, various media sources reported that the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, might consider declaring Mr. Ofori-Atta wanted again if he does not show up.
But Mr. Frank Davies indicated that, considering the current health issues and ongoing legal matters, such a move would be quite irregular.

Mr. Ofori-Atta has already initiated a lawsuit at the Human Rights Court, contesting the legality of the OSP’s initial declaration labeling him as a wanted individual.

The court has set June 18, 2025, to announce its decision on this issue.

The OSP itself recognized this legal challenge in a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, May 28, 2025.
