We feared for our lives – Nations FC accuses Basake Holy Stars of using Guns, knives to win

Kennedy Boakye Ansah, the Brands Manager of Nations FC, has claimed that Basake Holy Stars utilized a bus donated by the GFA to transport heavily-built individuals armed with knives and guns to the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena prior to their Week 33 match in the Ghana Premier League.

In a crucial match on Sunday against Holy Stars, Nations FC chose to abandon the game in the first half, walking off the pitch in protest after a second penalty was awarded against them.

Nations FC was already behind 1-0 after Basake Holy Stars successfully converted a penalty in the 32nd minute.

The team later issued a statement emphasizing inadequate security measures and poor officiating as the primary reasons for their decision to withdraw from the match.

In an interview with Delali Atiase on the Luv Sports Blitz Xtra, Kennedy Boakye Ansah expressed that the home team fostered a hostile environment that was unsafe for a football match.

“We have never had any problems with Basake Holy Stars in the past. Even during our time together in Division 1, we never encountered any issues.

“If you want to avoid relegation, the key is to play fair, not to resort to Rambo tactics to secure victories,” he stated.

A frustrated Kennedy Boakye Ansah accused ‘machomen’ armed with guns and knives of being transported to the match venue to instill fear before the game.

“My greatest disappointment lies with the head of the Western Regional Association, who owns Basake.

“He arrived at the stadium in a pick-up truck provided by the GFA. The bus that the GFA donated to them when they qualified for the Premier League was the same bus used to transport the intimidating men into the stadium on two separate occasions.

“These individuals were brandishing knives and guns. It was our safety and security officer who spotted them. That is why we made the decision not to proceed with the game.
