Pakistani TikTok star Sana Yousaf was tragically shot and killed at her home in Islamabad on Monday, June 2, just hours after she posted a video celebrating her 17th birthday.
In the video, 17-year-old Sana Yousaf was seen cutting a cake, enjoying time with friends, and dining at a restaurant. She wore a brown skirt and shirt, radiating joy as she laughed and smiled.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani man charged with the murder of the 17-year-old TikTok influencer after she declined his friendship proposal made his initial court appearance on Wednesday, according to officials and police reports.
The suspect, Umar Hayat, 22, who is also a TikTok content creator, was apprehended on Tuesday by Islamabad police in Faisalabad, an industrial city located in eastern Punjab province.
He faces accusations of shooting Sana Yousaf, who boasted over one million followers on social media. The incident earlier this week in Islamabad has sparked widespread outrage.
Television footage captured Hayat with his face concealed as he was escorted to court, where police sought additional time to finalize their investigation and file formal murder charges.
The judge mandated that Hayat return on June 18 for pretrial proceedings.
Yousaf, hailing from the picturesque northern region of Chitral, was celebrated for showcasing traditional Chitrali music and attire through her videos.
