A total of 603,328 candidates are anticipated to participate in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which is set to take place from Tuesday, June 11 to Tuesday, June 18, throughout the nation.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) announced this number ahead of the nationwide exams, indicating that the group consists of 297,250 males and 306,078 females from both public and private educational institutions.
With all necessary materials and schedules already sent to the examination centers, the GES has stated that it is fully equipped for a seamless and credible examination process.
During a press conference on Monday, June 9, the Director-General of the GES, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, urged candidates to avoid cheating and warned invigilators and supervisors to maintain strict professionalism or face dismissal.
“We require the cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure that examination malpractice in all its forms is minimized or completely eradicated, as such malpractice does not provide an accurate measure of a student’s performance.
“When students resort to cheating, it becomes challenging to evaluate the effectiveness of our education system. Therefore, we are appealing to everyone to assist us in combating examination malpractices. Invigilators found facilitating cheating will face severe consequences,” he warned.
The GES leader reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to tackling exam fraud and called on the public to support initiatives aimed at maintaining the integrity of Ghana’s basic education system.
