GRNMA leadership not fit to serve Ghanaians – Mustapha Gbande alleges

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has called on the Health Minister to dismiss the leadership of the Registered Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana.

He claims they are lacking compassion and are unfit to serve the people of Ghana in their current roles.

Mustapha Gbande expressed this during a discussion on Accra-based OKAY FM regarding the ongoing strike by nurses and midwives.

He stated, “They are cruel individuals. I urge the health minister to terminate their appointments. How can you go on strike and then leave the country like that? The NPP has been in power for eight years and has failed to implement your conditions of service. They left, and just a few months later, you have the nerve to initiate strike action.”

“You have the right to strike, but you also have the duty to be present at the hospital. We need to remove them and appoint a leadership that takes their responsibilities seriously. Strikes should only occur under serious and compelling circumstances. They are overseas and participating in a Zoom call because they have been swayed by the NPP,” he commented.

In Ghana, nurses and midwives are currently on strike to emphasize the necessity for the government to fulfill their conditions of service.

The strike has entered its second week and is affecting healthcare delivery across the nation, leaving patients in distress.

Numerous appeals have been made for the nurses and midwives to return to work, but all attempts have been unsuccessful, as the association’s leadership is only willing to accept the implementation of their conditions of service.
