EC under fire: Valerie Sawyerr demands re-run in Ablekuma North over NPP pink sheets

Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs, Dr. Valerie Esther Sawyerr, has launched a fierce critique against the Electoral Commission (EC), accusing it of undermining electoral integrity in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

In a fervent post titled, “The Saga of the Scanned Pink Sheets & Ablekuma North,” Dr. Sawyerr raised concerns about the EC’s credibility after it accepted scanned pink sheets submitted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to compile results for 42 polling stations—contrary to previous instructions from the EC’s own Director of Elections, Dr. Benjamin Bannor Bio, which stated that scanned pink sheets should not be accepted.

She also questioned the legal and procedural grounds on which Dr. Sereboe Quaicoe, the EC’s Director of Training, supposedly reversed the decision, permitting the contentious documents to be included in the official tally.

“How can scanned pink sheets from just one party serve as the foundation for announcing a parliamentary result?” she inquired. “This is a violation of justice and a slap in the face of electoral standards.”

Sawyerr argues that this action not only breaches fairness but could also have significant repercussions for public confidence in democratic processes.

She urged for a re-run in 62 affected polling stations, contending that the EC has “boldly danced to the rhythm of the scanned pink sheets anthem” while disregarding democratic accountability.
