Ningo-Prampram MP Samuel Nartey George is fiercely defending his reputation.
The candid lawmaker has initiated legal action against P.K. Sarpong, a prominent NPP activist and political commentator, following serious allegations he made on Facebook.
In a writ filed on June 2, 2025, by the High Court of Justice in Accra (Suit No. GT/0845/2025), Sam George is suing P.K. Sarpong, also known as Whispers, and is demanding his presence in court within eight days, or he risks a judgment being made in his absence.
“He’s finally going to be held accountable for his statements,” Sam George stated. “You can’t just hide behind a keyboard, create false narratives, and expect there to be no repercussions.”
The dispute arose from a Facebook post where P.K. Sarpong claimed that Sam George had been gifted a high-end Lexus vehicle, which he referred to as “unregistered.”
In his post, Sarpong directly called out former President John Mahama, referencing his newly introduced Code of Conduct that discourages public officials from accepting gifts that could jeopardize their integrity.
“Dear President John Dramani Mahama, let me reiterate, this unregistered Lexus your appointee is using is a gift to him!” Sarpong asserted, alleging that Sam George was breaching Mahama’s own guidelines.
He further teased the audience by saying, “I will keep the identity of the gifter under wraps for now.”
This post did not sit well with the MP.
“This isn’t just about me; it’s about establishing limits in our political discussions,” Sam George remarked.
“You can’t go around making accusations of corruption and then hide behind party politics when confronted.”
While P.K. Sarpong has not yet provided a formal reply, the legal writ is explicit: he must show up in court or face a default judgment.
Legal analysts suggest that this case could set a significant precedent for how public figures are held accountable.
