We’ll deliver in ten days – Dafeamekpor vows action on nurses demands

Majority Chief Whip Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor has promised the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) that their requests outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) will be met in the forthcoming mid-year budget.

During an appearance on TV3’s KeyPoints programme on Saturday, June 14, Dafeamekpor stated:
“We will make provisions for you in the mid-year budget. I assure you of that. The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, cannot guarantee you on this matter and then rest easy.”

He also suggested that action would be forthcoming: “In the next ten days, you will receive updates from the government.”

These remarks follow GRNMA’s nationwide strike, which highlighted ongoing issues regarding salaries, working conditions, and the government’s delays in executing their agreed-upon terms.

The Association, which called off its strike on Friday, June 14, also released a firm statement refuting claims of political motivations behind their actions.

“We are a completely non-partisan organization focused solely on advocating for the welfare of nurses and midwives throughout the nation,” GRNMA stated, expressing concern over the “misinformation, disinformation, and propaganda” that sought to diminish their valid issues.
