DVLA Orders 14-Day Deadline for Transfer of Mining and Construction Equipment Ownership

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced a new requirement mandating that all mining and construction equipment must be officially transferred to the new owner within 14 days of the sale, in line with current regulations.

In a press release issued on June 17, 2025, the Authority emphasized that non-compliance could lead to legal repercussions and other penalties.

“The Authority wants to remind all dealers and owners of mining and construction equipment that it is essential to inform the Authority about any change in ownership of such equipment within fourteen (14) days following the sale,” the statement indicated.

The DVLA voiced its concern regarding the prevalent issue of individuals and businesses neglecting to register ownership changes, labeling it as a significant regulatory and operational hurdle.

As a result, the Authority is urging all stakeholders in the mining and construction industries to ensure that equipment ownership transfers are conducted swiftly and correctly.

The DVLA warned that those who do not comply will face legal repercussions.

“All dealers and owners of mining and construction equipment are advised to visit the nearest DVLA office to facilitate the ownership transfer,” the release mentioned.

The Authority reiterated its dedication to enforcing the law and providing effective services to enhance Ghana’s transport and equipment oversight systems.

This directive is part of the DVLA’s larger strategy to simplify equipment registration and bolster enforcement for better regulation and safety compliance.
