Electrical officers have cut off power at the National Public Health and Reference Laboratory, situated at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, due to a fire that broke out on the night of Tuesday, June 17.
The fire reportedly ignited around 11:00 p.m. on June 17. As per the Ghana National Fire Service, firefighters from four different stations were quickly sent to the location, effectively controlling the blaze and stopping it from spreading to other areas of the facility.
Citi News has learned that the fire caused significant damage to several vital sections of the laboratory, including the electrical room, storage areas, laboratories, and a library.
Currently, the cause of the fire is still unknown. The Fire Service has begun an investigation to find out what led to the incident.
