Supreme Court nominee Ackaah-Boafo’s vetting suspended amid petition concerns

The Appointments Committee of Parliament has put a hold on the vetting process for Supreme Court nominee, Justice Kwaku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, due to a petition that has been submitted against him.

Justice Ackaah-Boafo was meant to appear before the Committee today, June 19, as part of the parliamentary approval process for his promotion to Ghana’s highest court.

He was set to be the final nominee among seven Court of Appeal justices put forward by President John Dramani Mahama for a position on the Supreme Court.

While the specifics of the petition are not yet known, sources within Parliament suggest that the Committee made this decision to allow time for a thorough review of its contents before moving forward with the vetting.
