The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has made an announcement regarding temporary measures to support the extension works at the Tetteh-Quarshie interchange and the Accra-Tema motorway.
This information was shared in a press release dated June 19.
In the press release from the Public Affairs Department of the GHA, it stated, “The Ghana Highway Authority, on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, would like to inform the public and all road users about an upcoming traffic management plan as part of the ongoing construction efforts on the Accra—Tema Motorway and Extensions Project (19.5km).”
Furthermore, it mentioned, “To enable the construction of the central pier for the expansion of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge, the number of lanes on the North—South bound carriageway (from Madina to Accra and vice versa) will be temporarily reduced from four (4) lanes to three (3).
The GHA clarified, “This change will commence on Sunday, 22nd June 2025, and is anticipated to last for four (4) months. The lane reduction is essential to create a safe working environment for construction workers and to maintain the safety of all road users.” They urged drivers to “exercise caution, adhere to directional signs, and cooperate with traffic management personnel during the construction period.”
