Mahama urges workers to speak up against mismanagement in public institutions

-

President John Dramani Mahama has called on public sector workers to actively challenge mismanagement in state-owned enterprises, warning that silence in the face of poor leadership often leads to job losses.

Addressing the national May Day celebrations at Black Star Square on Thursday, the President encouraged workers to safeguard the institutions that provide their livelihoods.

“Comrades and friends, many of you have endured atrocious management in state institutions in recent years. I urge you not to remain silent when poor leadership threatens your enterprise’s survival. Workers are invariably the first victims when these institutions collapse,” he stated.

The President assured workers of his full support when they speak out to protect public resources and demand accountability.

“Your workplace belongs to you all – it guarantees your lifelong employment, and you must therefore defend it. When you witness wrongdoing, speak up without fear. As your President, I will stand with you to correct these failures,” he affirmed.

President Mahama emphasised the need for collaboration between management and staff to revitalise public enterprises. “We charge both leadership and workers in state institutions to work collectively towards viability – these are our shared assets,” he advised.

Reiterating his commitment to labour reform, the President pledged to improve both the conditions of service and operational efficiency within the public and private sectors.

“We will introduce comprehensive reforms across the public and private sector labour environment by ensuring timely salary payment, modernising workplace conditions and reducing the bureaucratic bottlenecks that frustrate your productivity,” he affirmed.
