Alex Otti doesn’t represent the values of Labour Party

Julius Abure, the factional national chairman of the Labour Party has said that the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti does not represent the values for which the party stands for.

Speaking at the party’s emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee, Abure said his leadership was instrumental to Otti’s emergence as Abia governor.

Abure’s remark follows Otti’s appearance in an Arise TV interview where he claimed that they had taken over the control of the party.

The governor also accused Abure of “masturbating” over claims that he was still in charge.

His words, “The party that brought me to power is Labour. Okay. Today we have fought and retrieved the Labour Party. I will send you the Supreme Court judgment, and when you finish reading it, you will know that Abure is just masturbating.”

In his reaction to the governor’s claim, Abure said Otti is who he is today because of the kind of leadership he delivers as LP’s National Chairman.

He said, “Without sounding immodest, we made Governor Alex Otti. We supported him, made sacrifices, rejected bribes and offers, just so he could become the governor he is today.

“Yet today, he goes on national television to misinform the public about the Supreme Court judgment,” he said.

Continuing, Abure said he was embarrassed that Otti had joined other party members to submit the court ruling to the electoral body.

“I want to state clearly that Otti does not represent the values of our party.

“We told Nigerians in 2023 that the Labour Party would produce leaders who are different. We said a new Nigeria is possible. But today, what are we seeing?” Abure asked.
