‘Let’s all join APC, become a force for good’, Valentine Ozigbo begs Nigerian youths

-

A 2025 governorship aspirant for the All Progressives Congress in Anambra State has called on Nigerian youths to join the party for the good of the country.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ozigbo who recently decamped from the Labour Party said APC remains the only option for every politician in the country.

“So the only option for any politicians today is actually APC and it is unfortunate, that is not what it should be. I like to see strong opposition politics in Nigeria.

“Because you know what that does? Even the small politics that Soludo is doing today was the pressure coming from me as an opposition,” he said.

On the coalition proposed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Ozigbo said that he does not see that as a plan that would gain any form of traction.

He said what is needed in Nigeria currently is a strong opposition that would keep the incumbent on its toes.

He further warned that leaving an incumbent leader with accountability or a reporting system to the people is dangerous

According to Ozigbo, such scenarios end up giving room for dictatorship which becomes a challenge for governance and delivering equity and social justice among others to the people.

“I like to see a strong opposition, so now that we don’t have that, let’s join… I am going to at some point call on the youths of Nigeria, let’s troop into APC and be a force for good. That’s the only option we’ve got today.

“Until we have leaders who are selfless enough to come to gather for a common good, then things will begin to balance, at some point, I even like to see a lot of reforms and get to a point we can have, like in the US, a two-party system.

“Because once you have an opposition scattered in this way, it is a useless opposition,” he added.
