Senator Kawu Sumaila has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Kawu’s official defection to the APC was announced on the floor of the plenary on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
His defection to the ruling party was contained in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Kawu’s letter was read out to all lawmakers of the 10th Senate by the Senate President.
Shortly after Akpabio read the letter, all the senators of the ruling APC moved in their numbers to welcome the newly defected lawmaker.
They subsequently led him to his new seat on the section which the majority members usually occupy.
