As the Black Satellites prepare for their final Group C match against the Central African Republic, three key players – Lord Afrifa, Hakim Sulemana, and first choice goalkeeper Gidios Aseako – shared their thoughts with the media in Egypt, expressing belief in the team’s readiness and ambition.
Midfield dynamo Lord Afrifa, who was outstanding in Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Senegal, emphasized the team’s primary goal: qualifying for the World Cup. “Tomorrow’s game will be tough. CAR are good, but we’re ready,” said the Sturm Graz man. “The teams in this tournament have shown quality, but Ghana is ready for any challenge.”
Forward Hakim Sulemana, named Most Valuable Player in the 1-1 draw against DR Congo, described the competition as highly competitive. “We’ve analysed CAR and have a good idea of what we’re up against,” said the Randers FC attacker. “Our technical team has worked on a strategy, and we’re confident we can execute it and get the win.”
Goalkeeper Gidios Aseako, who has been in excellent form in both matches, praised the organization of the tournament and the team’s strong mentality. “The experience in Egypt has been good,” said the shot-stopper. “We have to win and top the group. The mentality of the team is strong, and we are determined to win tomorrow and go all the way.”
With confidence high and the group lead within reach, the Satellites are poised for another strong showing as they chase qualification and ultimate glory.
The Satellites, who currently sit second in Group C on four points behind Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who lead the group on goal difference, face CAR at 1800 local time (1500 GMT) on Thursday, 8th May 2025, at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia. The top two teams in the group qualify automatically for the quarterfinals of the tournament.
