The 2024/25 MTN FA Cup has been a tournament of surprises, and as it reaches its penultimate stage, two Division One League sides, Golden Kick FC and Attram De Visser, stand on the brink of history.
These two ambitious clubs will battle it out on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, with a place in the final and a shot at glory up for grabs.
With both Golden Kick FC and Attram De Visser representing the second tier of Ghanaian football, this semifinal clash guarantees that one of them will become just the third second-tier club to reach the MTN FA Cup final since FC Nania’s fairytale triumph in 2010/11. Okwahu United (2016) and Bofoakwa Tano (2021) are the only other Division One sides to have achieved that feat in recent years.
Their journey to this point has been nothing short of inspiring, with both clubs toppling bigger names and proving that the gap between Ghana’s top tiers is narrowing.
Road to Semi-final
Attram de Visser
Attram De Visser had an eye-catching run to the last four. The Academy side eliminated Premier League outfit Bibiani Gold Stars in the Round of 16 before dispatching fellow Division One club Pac Academy in the quarterfinals. Their attacking output has been slightly more prolific than their opponents’, scoring five goals, conceding three, and keeping two clean sheets.
Golden Kick FC
The Accra-based club has been one of the standout performers in this year’s competition. Representing Zone Three in the Access Bank Division One League, Golden Kick knocked out Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak and Karela United. Their campaign has been built on a solid defensive foundation — five matches played, four clean sheets, and just four goals scored — a testament to their disciplined, pragmatic approach.
Their ability to manage games and grind out results has made them a formidable cup side, and they now stand just 90 minutes away from a landmark appearance in the final.
Saturday’s semifinal promises to be a clash of styles. Golden Kick’s strong defensive discipline and experience in neutralizing elite opposition contrasts with Attram De Visser’s flair and attacking fluidity. The key battleground will be midfield control — whoever dictates the tempo early could tilt the match in their favor.
