Golden Kick sweep past Attram De Visser to reach historic MTN FA Cup Final

-

Golden Kick FC secured a historic place in the final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup after a commanding 3-1 victory over city rivals Attram De Visser at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

In what was their first-ever appearance in an MTN FA Cup semi-final, the Accra-based Division One side rose to the occasion with a dominant display, becoming only the third second-tier club in Ghanaian football history to reach the final of the prestigious competition.

The match got off to a lively start in front of an energetic crowd. Golden Kick were handed the breakthrough in the 16th minute in dramatic fashion. Attram De Visser goalkeeper Dawuud Ishaque misjudged a routine play and inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, gifting their opponents the lead and setting the tone for an intense encounter.

Just six minutes later, Golden Kick doubled their advantage. David Amuzu capitalised on a defensive lapse to slot home the second goal, sending their fans into raptures and putting Peter Fiifi Parker’s side firmly in control of the game.

Attram De Visser, led by former Ghana international Godwin Attram, struggled to find rhythm in the first half, with Golden Kick’s compact defensive structure denying them clear chances. Two minutes after the break, the underdogs extended their lead further. Bless Ege struck decisively to make it 3-0, effectively sealing the contest and putting one foot firmly in the final.

Despite the setback, Attram De Visser showed resilience and pulled one back through a stunning effort from Precious Yaw Gyimah. His thumping header served as a brilliant consolation and highlighted the team’s fighting spirit, but it was too little, too late.

Golden Kick’s win is a milestone achievement. They now join the esteemed company of Nania FC, who lifted the cup in 2011, and Okwahu United, who reached the final in 2016.

The team’s impressive cup run—marked by victories over top-tier clubs including Hearts of Oak, Karela United, and now Attram De Visser—has been a testament to their tactical discipline, mental fortitude, and ambition.

Golden Kick FC will now turn their attention to the grand finale, where they await the winner of the second semi-final clash between Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko, scheduled for Sunday, May 11, at the same venue.

The final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup is set to be held at the University of Ghana Stadium on June 15, 2025, promising a historic showdown as Golden Kick aim to complete their fairytale journey with silverware.
