GFA commences construction of Two Natural Grass Pitches at Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE)

-

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has commenced the construction of two new natural grass pitches at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram.

The construction, supported by FIFA Forward funds, is part of the GFA’s broader infrastructure development strategy aimed at transforming the national training facility into a premier destination for football development in the country.

Upon completion, the two additional pitches will bring the total number of grass pitches at the GSCE to three in total, in addition to two Astro turfs, significantly enhancing the training capacity of the centre. The Football Association is committed to improving football infrastructure and creating world-class facilities that support talent development across all levels of the game in Ghana.

The new pitches are designed to meet international standards, providing high-quality playing surfaces for local clubs, national teams, and visiting international sides. By investing in such top-tier facilities, the GFA is positioning its technical centre as a hub for elite football training and competitions, not just in Ghana but across the West African region.

This latest development forms part of a comprehensive upgrade agenda by the Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku’s administration. Notable achievements under this agenda include the installation of floodlights on the GSCE AstroTurf, the construction of two state-of-the-art pitches, the procurement of vehicles for Division One League clubs and Regional Football Associations, and advanced plans for a 40-bed accommodation facility at the centre.

The FIFA Forward Programme, which provides financial support for football development projects for worthy Member Associations (MAs), has been instrumental in funding this construction. The partnership between FIFA and the GFA continues to play a crucial role in strengthening the foundation of the sport in Ghana.
