We warned you, but you insisted – Mahama Ayariga justifies reversal of last-minute recruitments

-

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has reaffirmed the government’s stance on reversing appointments made during the transition period following the 2024 general elections.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Ayariga defended the decision, stating that the government had repeatedly warned against last-minute recruitments but those responsible chose to ignore the cautions.

“That is why the government is reversing those recruitments. We told you, we warned you, we cautioned you, we tried to stop you and you refused, insisted and recruited. We have no regrets reversing those recruitments,” Ayariga declared.

The reversal of these appointments has sparked heated debates, with critics arguing it undermines the rights of those affected, while supporters maintain that such last-minute recruitments are politically motivated and lack transparency.

Ayariga, however, maintained that the move was necessary to uphold accountability and ensure that public sector recruitments are conducted fairly and without bias.
