Haruna Iddrisu sends goodwill message to over 600,000 BECE candidates nationwide

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has shared a warm message of support for the more than 600,000 candidates who are getting ready to take this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which is set to start today, Wednesday, June 11, and conclude on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

During his appearance on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, June 11, Minister Iddrisu referred to the BECE as a significant milestone in the academic paths of the candidates and conveyed his best wishes to them.

“Today marks an important milestone in the educational journey of these young individuals. A total of 603,328 students nationwide will be participating in the BECE starting today. On behalf of the president, as well as myself and the people of Ghana, I wish them all the best,” he stated.

The minister encouraged the candidates to approach the exams with composure and resolve, emphasizing the necessity of steering clear of any form of cheating.

“I want to extend heartfelt encouragement to each of them and remind them to stay calm, focused, and determined, while avoiding any kind of examination malpractice. They must have faith in their own capabilities to succeed, which requires their utmost effort and engagement,” he remarked.

Mr. Iddrisu also advised the students to view the examination as a regular test of their memory and knowledge, urging them to have confidence in the preparation they have undertaken over the years.

“They should simply see it as a standard test of memory. They have been studying for this day for years, and now they just need to apply their knowledge, skills, and the confidence they have built. I wish them the very best of luck,” he concluded.

This year’s BECE will feature a total of 603,328 candidates from all over the country, representing one of the largest groups in recent years.
